We teach English language skills in small groups and in safe and friendly learning environments.

In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia we know that language learning is most effective when learners enjoy themselves and participate fully in lessons.

We also know that children learn best when their parents are interested and involved in their learning.

We hold mid-term and end of term parent-teacher meetings where you can talk to your child’s teacher if you have questions or concerns about your child’s progress or participation.

How we teach

We will:

  • teach your child with others of a similar age and level
  • use a variety of materials to learn, including course books, games, and other challenging projects and activities
  • ensure your child has many opportunities to speak to other children and practise a range of writing styles. This helps build confidence and gives them skills they can use in school
  • use a range of different activities in each lesson. Different children learn in different ways through seeing,  through listening, through moving around, etc. so a variety of activities can make sure all children learn effectively.

Assessment and progress

We will:

  • assess your child in reading, writing, listening and speaking. They are provided with a certificate of their progress at the end of the course.

 We would like you to:

  • talk to your child’s teacher if you have questions or concerns about your child’s progress or participation.

Your child will be given:

  • homework every week to support what they have done in class
  • we then check the homework in the next lesson
  • we will notify you if homework is not completed regularly.

We would like like you to:

  • ask your child about British Council homework and check that it has been done
  • let us know if your child is having problems with the homework.

Keeping your child happy - our behaviour policy

Our rules:

  • Follow instructions
  • Listen to teachers, staff and other students
  • Let everybody fully take part in activities
  • Keep everybody safe.

We will:

  • teach children that everybody is welcome and important at the British Council
  • teach children appropriate behaviour
  • speak to you when your child’s behaviour is repeatedly unacceptable and how you can help them behave better. If your child cannot improve, we will request a meeting with you and if they still cannot improve we will ask you to remove your child from the course.
  • speak to you if your child has been bullied
  • only discuss your child’s behaviour with you and not other parents.

We’d like you to:

  • work with us to help your child follow these rules.
  • attend our end of term parents events.

Keeping your child safe - our child protection policy

We will:

  • look after your child from when they arrive until you collect them
  • only let your child go home alone if you have provided a signed child protection form during registration. (Please see below)
  • only let your child go home with the people you have told us about
  • speak to you if your child has hurt themselves.

We’d like you to:

  • bring and collect your child on time
  • inform us of any ongoing illness your child may have such as asthma.
